This is a very special piece, that I have been reluctant to list! The huge NZ Pounamu stone has been hand-carved by a Central Otago carver especially for me to work with. The dusky green stone has a matte finish, which brings a sense of grounded wisdom to the piece. While the intricate beading is spectacular, there is something simple and sober in the whole piece.
This large chunk of green-stone is framed by a weave of metallic dark-bronze Delica beads and earthy jeweled African Turquoise, with detailing of rust-coloured titanium plated Hematite beads. The framing process is done by hand with skill and precision, using slow-fashion techniques of weaving glass micro-beads, one bead at a time, and securely fastened without the use of glue.
The pendant measures 4.5cm wide by 7cm long, from where the top of the beading meets the chain. The chain is hand-beaded from matte forest green and dark bronze glass beads, and fastens with a led-free pewter toggle clasp. The chain length is 58cm, which places the stone close to the heart. A custom chain length can be also be arranged.
